Building Program

As the church continues to grow numerically and health, there is an increase in the programs and therefore facilities that need to be available. As such, we have commenced a large building program to expand our current building and therefore the opportunities for ministry and involvement in our community.

April 2008

A big thanks to Eunice for obtaining consents from the majority of the churches neighbours. This has been a rather mammoth job and Eunice has excelled. Currently we have only 3 outstanding neighbours still to give their consent.

Prior to Christmas, an architect who is new to our church offered his services to undertake the construction drawings. Michael Boyce has done an outstanding job in creating innovative ways of refining the design to keep with the overall design concept but give us more flexibility and be more cost effective. We have a final plan, and a copy will be on the BBC website in due course.

In terms of the fees that TCC are proposing, they have now made an offer of just over $100,000 which is probably more than we would have like to have paid, but the building team feels it is not worth holding up the project for the sake of obtaining further reductions.

In the next two weeks we will be having a pre-lodgement meeting for the resource consent with the planning staff of TCC. We are appointing Peter Haywood's company Brunel as the principal contractor, but this will also allow trades people to offer their services through this contractor.

We would like to start construction as close as possible to 1 July, dependent on resource consent issues.
