Christmas at Bethlehem Baptist Church

This Christmas season, we invite you to celebrate the hope, joy and light that Jesus brings. From inspiring performances and family fun to practical acts of love through Kai Manga, there’s something for everyone at BBC this Christmas.

The Story of Peace, Hope, Joy & Love

Every Christmas begins with a story.

It is a story of promises made and fulfilled, light entering the darkness, and ordinary people caught up in God’s extraordinary plan. It is a story of peace, hope, joy and love. At its heart is not simply an event, but a person: Jesus.

Beginning on Sunday 29 November, we invite you to journey through Advent with us. Across four Sundays, our services and productions will use Scripture, worship, creativity and storytelling to rediscover the wonder of Christmas together.

Whether BBC is already home for you or you are joining us for the first time, you and your whānau are warmly invited.

Sharing Christmas with Our Community

Christmas gives us an opportunity not only to celebrate together, but also to share the love and generosity of Jesus with people throughout our community.

This year, there are two practical ways you can help bring encouragement and joy to local children and whānau.

Tauranga Shoebox Christmas

Tauranga Shoebox Christmas

Fill a shoebox. Bring local joy.

Tauranga Shoebox Christmas works with schools, early childhood centres and community organisations to identify local tamariki whose whānau may be experiencing financial hardship, grief, illness or other difficult circumstances.

When you sign up, you will be anonymously matched with a local child and given their age, gender and, where possible, some of their interests. You can then fill a shoebox with new gifts chosen especially for them.

This is something you can take part in individually, as a family or with friends.

Completed shoeboxes must be wrapped, labelled and dropped off by Thursday 12 November.

Gift ideas, guidelines and registration are available on the Tauranga Shoebox Christmas website.

Kai Mānga Christmas Hampers

Kai Mānga Christmas Hampers

Helping local whānau celebrate Christmas

Each year, our BBC community comes together to prepare Christmas food hampers for local individuals and families who could use some extra support.

From Sunday 8 November, collect a brown bag and grocery list from the church foyer. Fill your bag with the requested food and Christmas items, then return it to BBC in time for sorting.

Brown bags must be returned by Tuesday 1 December.

Every donated item contributes towards a hamper filled with practical groceries, festive treats and the reminder that our community cares.

Request or Nominate Someone for a Hamper

If you or someone connected with the BBC community would benefit from a Christmas hamper, you can complete our confidential nomination form.

All requests will be reviewed by the BBC Care team. Submitting a nomination does not guarantee that a hamper will be available.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
