Marcus Norrish

Elder

Being a Christian is central to who I am. Having been a Christian for many years, I am thankful that God has led, tested, grown and shaped me. I have always felt a strong calling to the local church, and so am committed to serving God in it. Before moving to Tauranga, Linda and I were members of Hillsborough Baptist in Auckland, and prior to that, Welcome Bay Baptist.

I am passionate about BBC being a community that supports and builds each other in our Christian walk, recognizing the grace of God In all of our lives. I am committed to being part of a church that is both responsible and trustworthy with the resources we have been given, while being courageous enough to step out in faith, risking it all to win the race that God has set for us to run.

Family
I have been married to my lovely wife Linda for 30 years. We are blessed to have three children – Caleb (20), Hannah (18) and Ethan (16). After working for many years in the building industry, I shifted to primary school teaching about the same time we were starting a family. I’m currently the principal at a local primary school.

Bethlehem Baptist Involvement
I have served on the Eldership Team previously, from 2006 through 2020, when I stepped down. In this next season, I feel called to serve in this way again as we continue to work together as a community to outwork what God would have us do here in Bethlehem. I am committed to giving my best for the time I am needed and believe that it is important for the Eldership team to grow in experience and maintain consistency over the years.
